Black lives do matter and situations have to change but don’t make Floyd into some sort of hero. It’s disgusting how he died and the fault lies with the police.If this statue is to denote police brutality. Why is it not a statue of chauvin with his knee on Floyd’s neck. I think everyone would understand it better.Imagine being the woman who’s house he broke into and robbed at gunpoint in front of her child. Imagine seeing your attacker’s face immortalized everywhere.I’m comforted that this brings the community together to clean the statue. I’m also frustrated at the persistence of those that insist on subjugating our community to their hate and vile. Being a white man today I cannot begin to imagine how a black (or brown) man or woman experiences todays world.BBC
