Good on her. Well done the Im proud of many things in life but nothing beats being a dad of a freaking awesome son shirt Norwegian team for calling out the sexism. The Olympic committee need to hand their heads in shame and change their sexist, discriminatory dinosaur stance. Women decide themselves what they want to wear as long as it doesnt give them advantage in the competition against their competitors-its not a matter for the whole world to debate-its their right. What? I believe Martina Navratilova also challenged the uniform in Tennis. She wore shorts like her male counterparts and was never fined. What those girls wore in no way restricted their movements nor gave them an advantage. It did however afford then dignity. Love watching the Olympic Games but some of the rules and regulations are absolutely archaic. It’s time the games got a complete overhaul,if there is even a place for the games in a much changed world where the vast amounts of money spent on the games could be better used elsewhere. The ‘fines’ should be returned to the players and the offending Federation itself fined for the imposition of an inappropriate rule. The rule should be replaced with one allowing appropriate kit which is relevant to the comfort and freedom of movement of the participants in the sporting activity. In 2021 how can it be that a women’s handball team can be fined for not wearing bikini bottoms to compete in an Olympic sport????!!!! and male competitors are allowed to wear shorts. Well done to the Norwegian handball team for highlighting and standing up to this outrageously sexist rule. Sports kits need to be practical and empower those wearing it to feel complete freedom of movement without embarrassment. All ridiculous rules like this need to change- now. Good for her. Seems crazy in this day and age they can get away with different rules for men and women. You can only assume it’s driven by money – the concern audiences and hence sponsorship will fall. But if uve got the players demanding it there can be only one outcome….eventually. BBC.

Isn’t it like living in a lunatic asylum nowadays? We have these beach volleyball players wanting to wear more modest shorts, we have gymnasts wearing full body leotards and being told they have to wear traditional ones. And then we have a Paralympic long jumper who where’s very ‘short’ shorts being told she’s got to wear longer ones over modesty. Glad to see these outdated rules being challenged. My grandfather was made to wrestle other competitors naked years ago. He wasn’t involved in the Olympic qualification process, he was imprisoned in HMP Bellmarsh, but any form of sports competition should be done with participants comfortably clothed, regardless of the arena. It’s a great stand by the Norwegian female beach handball team. I hope all female teams feel that they can follow suit. Times moved on and players shouldn’t feel forced in to wearing such clothing. Step forward European handball federation, explain yourselves. Huge respect to Pink. And yet a para athlete was recently criticised by an official for wearing what amounted to a bikini bottom as it was too revealing. Some kind if double standard here and what difference does it possibly make? Time to join the 21st century methinks power.
